Volunteers & Volunteering

We are ordinary people who are lucky enough to live in a beautiful part of Anglesey, with a stunning beach on our doorstep and a thriving community.

Doing a good turn

Older people, and those who are ill or disabled, can face real challenges. But one of the best things about our community is its resilience, and people's willingness to help their neighbours.

The idea of doing a “good turn” for someone who needs a helping hand at a time of illness, bereavement or distress is at the heart of everything we do, and it helps make Benllech a great place to live.

Our volunteers

All our volunteers care about other people. They offer a friendly, reassuring service which we hope eases the isolation and loneliness that many people feel when they live on their own and are at risk of becoming housebound.

  • All our volunteers are DBS checked.
  • They live locally, so they are helping people in their own community.
  • Many stay with us for years. They get a lot out of volunteering and the friendships they build with the people they help.

The scheme was set up by volunteers, and it is still run entirely by volunteers who give many hours of their time to support their neighbours.
